MMBP, the London-based creative agency behind this newsletter, has launched a new website to showcase its recent projects. MMBP works across industries, and its portfolio includes nation branding, fashion campaigns, international exhibitions, and digital motion experiences. Two recent projects are recapped here:
Fenwick
Last year, MMBP was appointed by the iconic British luxury retail brand Fenwick to operate a brand refresh following repositioning work the organisation had completed. MMBP evolved Fenwick’s visual world, and orchestrated its first-ever brand campaign: “QUIET NO MORE”. The campaign appeared in the autumn, with ads running across the UK in print and in digital.
Kingdom of Bhutan
The Kingdom of Bhutan—the fabled Himalayan country renowned for its mountains and monasteries, rich biodiversity, and striking natural beauty—appointed MMBP as its national and international branding partner in 2022. To mark the post-covid reopening of the kingdom, and with the idea to look to the future, a whole new identity for the country was created. It reflects Bhutan’s character and landscapes, history and ambitions: bold, vivid, richly storied and utterly distinctive. MMBP created a rebrand that appealed to its people and to guests who are seeking a different travel experience.
News broke this week that there is a sculpture of Harry Kane lying unused somewhere in the borough of Waltham Forest council. Waltham Forest commissioned the statue in 2019. It was “completed the following year at an expense of £7,200,” reports the Guardian, “but is yet to appear anywhere in public.” What happened? “Attempts were made by local Conservative councillors to place the Kane statue on Chingford’s Weaver Line Overground railway station,” the Guardian continues, “but that proposal was denied after a risk assessment carried out by Transport for London, on the grounds it could be targeted by rival football fans.” Kane is Walthamstow-born and Chingford-raised, and a record goalscorer for England and Tottenham. As a kid, he played for Ridgeway Rovers, whose alumnus also includes David Beckham. (Beckham was born in Leytonstone but was also brought up in Chingford. He and Kane attended the same school.) A second idea to land the Kane statue near to Ridgeway’s home ground was also rejected. Where it will turn up – or where it even is – remains anyone’s guess.
